Dear Sara and Young ones
Good grief. How much are you going to write with two good hands? Who is your English teacher? Can you get your money back there? But it is good to read that you are up and enjoying your days off between treatments.
My family have become so embarassed by me they have have gone to Chch to see you. Please don't wear them out.
Cheers
Bill
Hi Sara,
So good to get up this morning and read the great "kack handed" news. Sounds like you have had a fun weekend.
Would like (like many I suspect) to have ben a fly on the wall for the visit by Cheese. Bet it was full on to see who was the more gregarious or perhaps voluble would be the more appropriate word on the day (Mr Grant??).
Anyway just to lt you know that I am thnking of you, and the fsmily as you prepare for the next chapter in your progress onwards and upwards. Best wishes and lots of love for tomorrow.
Peter

I'm sitting in my pj's, its my lazy day and I'm deciding on whether to go and get rid of the rubbish, go for a cross country ski or a walk in the sun! As you can wel imagine the last two options more appealing than the first. However, it is a beautiful day in the Cariboo and I need to be out and about in the sun.
Last night, was a late night with 3 work mates and their families, coming by for a bbq dinner. We were entertained throughout the evening with 3 munchkins racing laps in a well laid out floor plan that also had a few improvised jumps made of heaped stuffed toys. I am not sure where these munchkins got their ever-ready batteries from but I wouldn't mind getting a supply. One little angel (3) had the "got it wrong" cuties look so perfected (dropped shoulders, head down, dragged feet with the big brown baby sad eyes)by the evening he had trained the youngest munchkin of 2 to do the same. His Mum and I were in tears of laughter watching. Then I have the 6 year old come in to tell me that " I had got it wrong!" I had got the Balto 2 dvd instead of the Balto 1 dvd and didn't I know that1 comes before 2! Damn I better have grandkids soon so I can be re-educated! Must talk to Matt!!!!(grin)
I am glad that humour, laughter, and joy cannot be operated on or altered. It's an essence of a person or person's as I have read from your blogs that would be marvellous to bottle and give away. Keep up the great blogs!
So much to read,I bet your "kack" hand was sore after that one!
Great to see you've still got your sense of humour although like your dad said "you can never take that away"
Enjoy everyday and the time with Kate before she heads off again.
Keep smiling

The Lotto Crew join with me in wishing you all the best for the next chapter in you hospital vists. Keep on smiling, we love that big smile we get on the photos, love and best wishes to all the youngs and Kate have a good flight back on Tuesday.

Hey Sara th' Sezzle
Great to finally hear from you on your blogsite (not that I have any complaints Rob!) Noted the alliteration garrulous girl, but more impressed by the 'Meet Cheese' assonance. Don't tell me it was fortuitous and I'll try to keep believing that it was deliberate!
Well done on the hat too: You certainly provided proof that you did wear it on the plane! How many innocent passengers ended up catching a bell in the eye as you passed down the aisle?
I admit I didn't have any doubts that you would take up the dare, I only wish a few more people would see that those who dare to be different are cooler than those who worry about conforming. I imagine that the Cheese-r is very much the non-conformist. Let's face it, she has to be, otherwise I don't think Villa could continue to operate if everyone there was like her. You're certainly one out of the box Cheese. Maybe you should be ON the box. I can see it now, talkback:
"5:30 with CHEESE"
or maybe a gameshow format perhaps:
"Verbosity"
Both would be ratings hits I don't doubt.
Anyway I'm at school, procrastinating instead of cleaning up my room for the onslaught tomorrow. ARRGH!
What else? Oh we all went out to Huxley on Saturday to deal with the trees that had been felled because they were seeding wilding pines. It looked like scene from the end of 'The Lorax' behind the lodge: just massive stumps everywhere and no trees. It'll take a bit of getting used to. I'm not big enough yet to have a chainsaw, so I was put to work with the log splitter along with Henry and, later, Willis. Willis's concentration flagged a bit as the norwest wind picked up and the afternoon wore on. It's a good thing the splitter is designed for 'Willis-type operators', with a gap at the end, otherwise I could have given away ever thinking of playing the piano again: I'd have been lucky to be able to play the trumpet.
I should stop this or Cheese on Toast will feel threatened. Great to know the hat and Monopoly have been such hits. Best wishes to Kate as she heads off again, and thinking of you lots tomorrow as the portacath and then radiotherapy go in. As I try to get Willis and Caitlin to settle down tomorrow (do you realise I'm going to have a Feasey in 80% of my classes??) I'll manage to keep some perpsective by keeping you in mind matey. Wish you were back doing English, but at least the Court Theatre won't be too far away when we come up for Hamlet.
Love, prayers and best wishes
Granty
sorry 'perspective'.
Hi Sara, Kate, Rob and Sue
Great to come on-line today and find two wonderful positive e-mails with their accompanying comments, some of which make me laugh out loud. What you are going through is huge and more than a little scary, and it must be neat to know that so many people care. Kate, leaving tomorrow will be hard - safe travel, and send lots of positive vibes and thoughts home to your precious family from the snowy slopes. Sara, Sue and Rob - we hope things go well tomorrow. We are thinking of you in sunny Twizel (I have a friend who persists in calling it Twitzel!). - from Sandy, Dean, and the three noisy but gorgeous redheads.
Hi Sara, great to get some news straight from the horses mouth, not that you look like a horse of course, but you do look great in the wizards hat; the "Trolly Dollies" in the pic flying to Sydney look pretty sharp as well, not that I would normally notice that sort of thing.
Glad you liked the flowers and the Helium floating thingy, not sure what Val called it, post us a picky so we can see what it looks like.
Girls are training hard for next weekend and I have done a couple of trips around the canal with them on the bike after training, Zed has a brand new bike:-)
Hope all goes well for you tomorrow.
Keep smiling, will txt you rowing results, we have singles and doubles again.
P.S Looks like Granty is trying to outdo Cheese, NOT'
Cheers
Wayne
...best of luck for the op tomorrow Sara..... and a BIG humungous hug for your little big sister for her return to the States.... have a ski for us! We had a swim for you at Totaranui... and a few great rides down the channel on the out going tide.... those aren't really full stops ... they are grains of Totaranui sand sticking to this message for you! Remember to have a few in your hand tomorrow to bring good luck and good thoughts of sunbathing on the golden sand.
Lots of love Aunty Haybale and the rest of the tribe
Will just slip in here while Cheese is regrouping. I won't take up much space! Good luck for tomorrow Sara. Safe travels Kate. Hope there is a dumping of fresh snow to greet you. Take care all.
the munros
Dear Sara and Kate, Rob and Sue
Thought of you heaps at Totaranui - we've had good times there with you. it's as beautiful as ever and just waiting for you to visit some time. Thought of sending you a box of sand but then imagined it getting in the bed! Worse than crumbs in the bed. One night it was pretty windy and there were boats out on the sea trying to get into the shelter of the estuary. We didn't go looking for Mr Totaranui but he could have been too busy out exercising or doing his body building regime.
There were a few crabs cruising around looking for toes to nibble at low tide but no sharks.
Have looked for your sweatshirt but can't find any lurking bags but when Toby heads off to Dunedin next week, it might reappear from under the detritus - new word for Granty. Zoe is off to school tomorrow for an hour or two - the softly, softly start approach secondary schools go in for! And Mart and I are back to work in full flight.
Travel well, Wonderful Kate - you've been a gem. And Sweet Sara, we'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Much love to you all
Mart, Jane, Toby and Zoe
Hi Sara and Young ones.
Safe travels K8. I think it is waiting for you to get back there before it snows again; it reads pretty drily at the moment. No doubt you will stay 'posted'. Good luck for you tomorrow Sara and the remaining Young(s).
We have a full day here tomorrow(take note Heinekins) but will be thinking of you between recalcitrant students and staff and L2/3 maths (and probably during).
Better leave a metre or so of room for Cheese.
Cheers big ears
Bill
best for the best just relax and think fresh dug new potatoes and sausages soft white bread cheers 4 2 morrrow love frtom us all on the bend
Dear Sara, Kate, Sue and Rob
G8 to hear your voice. John is bringing up more wasjigs but you may have done them! Had the weekend in Dunedin settling Andy and Alix into their flat. Also caught up with John's sister Margie, who is a box of fluffy ducks - loving her life - even though she had a bone marrow transplant 10 years ago! This cancer thing can be beat!!!!
Glad the weekend has been a lovely time.
Best wishes for comfortable and happy travels Kate. Isn't email awesome! You can really truly keep in touch! I wish you lots of snow!
Well dear I will be thinking of you tomorrow, as will the whole school. I had course selection on Friday and everyone was more interested in how you were getting on!
Best wishes for tomorrow.
Love Glenda and John
Gawd Wayne, you are such a try-hard, perving at pics of air hosties - don't you have any work to do up at Mount Cook??
Mind you, with the benchmark you have got at home, at least your standards are set extraordinarily high.
Sara - we will all be with you in spirit tomorrow. I guess you may have been dreading the day, but at the same time, kind of looking forward to it, as now is the time to embark on the beginning of the battle to beat the little 'B' (GROAN - this illiteration thing is contagious, Granty and Cheese have a LOT to answer for. At least I haven't been drinking from the same tap as Bill and Bob - the hip blog mob!)
Anyway, good luck for tomorrow and buckets of love from Huxley Place, to you and also to Rob, Sue and Kate - it's a biggie for all of you.
Let the Crusade begin!
Val

P.S. If you're going to post more pics of you with any Nurses, can you plez make sure they're old, and preferably ugly?
Hi Sara, Kate, Sue and Rob,
Thanks for the great piccies. I can't wait to get mine developed - should have used my digital camera instead.
Nicole is wading through a whole lot of data entry - she has only done 150 and she has to do a 1000! I think she has changed her mind about this money earning racket!!
Petra has only 4 more days of looking after the brats -
Actually she has been cleaning most of the day but the few hours she had them today they were hard work. I think she will be looking forward to going back to uni!
Have a good trip back to the States, Kate and enjoy the rest of your time there. John has flown off to Salt Lake City today and will be back Saturday to play tennis - life in the fast lane!!
Hope you guys had a good weekend. All the best for Tuesday's op., Sara. We are looking forward to more photos.
Love Pip, John, Petra and Nicole
Hi Sara
I've found the best way to use Rogets is as a door stop!
Been thinking of you. Really hope you're feeling better. My whole church up here in Welly is praying for you.
Anyway, I better go now.
See ya
Mike
hey sezzle. first day of school is finally over! YAY! it went... well not too bad really! the boys have sorted the common room out. there play a playstation, a dvd player, 2 TVs, a stereo and theres still a new loungesuite, a fridge and surround sound to come apprantly! geez... you dont know what your missing out on hahaha. thanks for the text this morning, very reassuring and i let mr. grant know about his message in the waiting lol.
all the best and saving you a spot in the common room lol!
luv shaz xoxox
hey ya!!
groan, i just spent flaming hours reading ol' cheeses blog and by the time i finish trying to even match her it will be tomorrow!! BUT i figured if i do a low down ho down on my day it ,mite match it, but then by then youd have fallen asleep and i have touch in a bit!!!
any way, sorry i havnt blogged (hehehe) fora tad, went out fishing yesterday!! matt and i were ment to go golfing, excpet it was "to windy" (he didnt want to be shown up by a girl really) so went to a BIG river (only found out b4 that it was the waitaki... but lets not go there... (dotdotdot) anyway, after packing a truck load of noodle and instand soup in a cup old clever pants for got the hot water!!! so we ate a packet of those breath freshner mints for tea (our breath overpowered the leaky car freshner!!!) went 4wdriving i drove! (and got stuck) then did the whole thing with the twister board where you spin it and go in that direction!(ended up in kurow) so we toddled of back to mine on a empty tank of desil and ate and ate and ate and triesd to remove the minty smell of our breath! then we went and played tennis (after a detour to weigh his sisters cat, i do not know why we did that.. but it is VERY fat! 6kg!!!) then we played tennis and i got my arse whipped but won at ping pong tennis( think sympathy played a part in that as i am truely pitaful!!) then got home to bed waaay to late, had rowing this morning tghen 1st day back at school then work @ the physio and am skipping rowing tonite to write this and play touch which im heading to now. exept its the 1st 15 rugby team from waitsaki boys last year and they need a girl so i always get asked! except theyr increadably hard out and have drills!! so i get alot of stick but its good to check out the talent... mmmmmhhmmmm
oh by the way you know old horse callaghan from rowing last season?
he had a bit of a whoopzy ( his sensibleness must have fallen out his ear at night) and drove home at new years slightly in toxicated. he fell asleep crashed into a tree broke his tibula fibula and whatever that bone in your arm is, and even worse, they found his 3 front teeth in the steering wheel. he is a absolute mess at the moment, looks like diraculla that went through the 3washing machine (simile!!) but has learnt his leason thats for sure!
anyway best of luck for well... now! am thinking of you, and as cheese said (gosh shes a poular person!) its another step to getting back to normal!!
any way beter get a move on or will never make it...
best wishes and prayers,
love soul mate kate!
This entry's logs are getting out of hand! Quick post a new update Rob before the poor old comment page implodes.
Loved Val's 'illiteration'. We seem to have quite a lot of that in our English classes.
Oi Grilled Cheese, a 'non-conformist' in the broadest sense would be a true individual wouldn't you say? It was supposed to be a backhanded compliment. And no, I don't suppose you're too worried about the odd rule breaking escapade (but you must be covering your tracks well matey given they've made you 2IC head girl at the Villa) I suspect you're wasted on an oar, you should be coxing! (But maybe there are rules in rowing about wind assistance, I'm not sure! Imagine cheesy grin in here)
Survived first day like everyone else, but they didn't learn enough coz we've gotta come back tomorrow. Hope that you're recovering from your Phantom of the Opera treatment Sara. Was going to send you some taped 'radio-therapy' from Twizel FM, but then realised you were probably feeling sick enough already without that. Keep the faith in the meantime.
LOL the Grantdog (nope, don' think it'll stick Cheese)
