Hey its good to be back home again.......

Hi everyone

Another quick one before stacking the zzsss. Sara is at home tonite still quite affected by the op and anaesthetic etc but she did watch a DVD before going to bed at 10.00. She had her first radiotherapy treatment this afternoon - this one took about an hour but once everything is sorted the appointments get down to 20 mins. We have another busy day tomorrow with some baseline kidney function tests which take most of the day at 2 hr intervals, the second radio treatment in the early afternoon and some other stuff.

Kate has safely touched down in the USA and found her way through LAX and to Alberqueque (spp??? - to late to check!). We have been texting her all day and spoke to her briefly in LA. She got it all sorted and is just fine (other than leaving her fav T shirt behind - there have been a few texts on that one!).

Anyway many thanks for all the messages etc in the last few days - they have been great and make for wonderful supportive and light relief when we read them and read them to Sara.

TTFN

Good Morning Young Family.
Thanks for the late night blog Rob especially after your very busy day. We hope you slept well.

We are glad Kate's trip went smoothly and hope there is lots of snow for her to complete the season.

Steve in Kimberley at the moment enjoying his night skate skiing and looking forward to getting into a back country hut for skiing this weekend. No steep slopes though!

What a busy diary you have Sara, those medical teams are not leaving one little spot on, in and around your body unchecked! That's damn impressive! Tell them from me to keep up the good work.

My nieghbours are leaving for NZ this Friday and it would be tempting to squeeze my body into one of their suitcases and wing my way home to see you, my friends and family.

Oh well home again soon. Today it's a first aid refresher so away from that "damn" filing and testing my CPR skills.

hugs, more hugs and even more hugs.

Hi team. Sandy here. Pleased to hear you made it home to Glenda and John's last night Sara, and that Kate has made it with no great dramas except the loss of a favourite T-shirt. Thanks Rob for the effort in keeping us all in touch. Sara I am going to post a couple of my favourite books up for you to read or Mum or Dad to read to you. I got and then promptly lost Glendá's address so will send them to Box 8137, the address that Ali Bell gave me. Dean is in Timaru today at the dentist as he broke a tooth eating his cereal this morning. Then he put the tooth on the bench and I promptly knocked it down the plughole! Thinking of U - Sandy.

Hi Sara and Rob and Sue

Trust your good days are continuing Sara. Great pics.

Good to get Taylor back to school. Don't know how long he will last - wouldn't wear school shoes on first day! changed courses as well! His arm is back in a cast (his right one) and so he tells me he cannot write! He can however, arc weld at home and play his guitar very loudly, and build a garden seat.

We will be back at Chch Hosp on Monday to see the hand team at the bone clinic. Once again anything you need just let me know - going up on Sunday and back Monday. Then up again on Wednesday with Jacq - can't tell she is excited about Hong Kong at all! I know her - two hours on the plane and she'll be grumpy and asking 'are we there yet?'. Not good at sitting still that girl. A drink or two and a sleeping pill are called for.

We may call on Wednesday and see how you are placed fpr a quick visit from us two old tarts. I'll get Jacq to bake a choc cake for you. Aren't I kind?

Love to you all.
Connie and Taylor

Hi Sara
Hope it's a better day for you today; there's only so many lemmonade ice blocks one can eat.
Been trying to finish painting the house - cheating though and doing the same colour so I can take longer.
Glad to hear Kate made it through LAX and by now is doubtless winging her way down those snow slopes. Envy.
Thanks so much for the daily updates, they mean a lot to the cheer squad.
Love Sue

Thanks for the updates Rob and Sara,
Hey Kate the world traveller, you did it. I hear you had a great flight lots of empty seats. I hear Kate you are missing your fav T-shirt? what to do?
Sara it was great to watch the movie last night with you and Rob and Sue. "In her Shoes" is definitely a good one. Heres to hoping that your body gets over that nasty anesthetic reaction and you start to feel better so you can get back to living life.
I love reading the comments, hey cheese, good luck this weekend at the rowing. go girl go.
Aunty Haybale is making her return to Christchurch tonight, will be great to have her here. I have got 10 more days in Christchurch before I have to go back to the land of snow and darkness. But that means, skiing heres to the snow and skiing.
love Ruth and co

Hi Sara
I know the power of the Area School family will help sustain you in the harder moments that may be ahead for you. You have such great mana with students and staff alike. You have already been appointed Captain of the Indoor Basketball and Netball teams for this year. Thinking about you and your Mum and Dad everyday.Art Low.

HI Sara et al

Procrastinating late again at school. Didn't win Big Wednesday, but didn't buy a ticket either so can't really complain. Fire siren has just gone off and the lads are racing out into the night. In the pool today with 11 PE and Frosty learning how to use the 'rolling knee'. Nobody drowned, but all pretty cold by the end. Then Sarah dropped by and confessed that she'd spectacularly written off her car. Not very happy. Computer is giving me stick so must stop - every second word seems to be getting thrown into odd places in my text or down into the username box. B----y annoying. This machine and I have a hate-hate relationship.
Hope that you've felt up to calorific commiseration activities today despite the therapy session. Thinking of you all.

Granty

Dear Sara, Sue and Rob

Hope you have no nausea tomorrow Sara and can treat yourself to something yummy! Enjoy the Spa! Great Idea!

Caitlin need not fear about sneaking a blog to you. I think staff are doing the same!

School is off to a good start although staff are bemoaning the loss of your leadership this year! The common room has become a mini home theatre which may not last too long if not managed! I feel like I'm playing the role of wicked witch of the west - you are sure to know what I mean! You could probably write the script! We have photos of you around the school but don't really need them to remind us of you. You and Sue's absence is sooooo noticeable. We all feel it.

I'm sorry not to see you this weekend but understand that you all are going through heaps and must be kind to yourselves.

To fellow bloggers - the address of the Young's Chch home is 78 Glenstrae Road, Balmoral Hill. So many people ask me so I imagine you are getting tonnes of mail. The neighbours will be curious about the celebrity living next door!

I hope summer is not over. We are back to cooler temps and wind! Hope it drops for the rowing this weekend. Hey - Maybe Cheese could wear a T-shirt with "Cheese" on it so we Twizelites can meet her since we have been allowed to share her blogs!

Well dear, I hope your treatments will not be so long and you have less reaction. We admire you so much for your courage and your "smile under fire".

Lots of love
Glenda

Hey Sara
God Luck with all your treatment. you just have to keep everyone on there toes,
REally strange at Korner Kafe at moment cause we have lost lots of staff to uni & poly will miss sarah P and Kerry, But hey that happens it is neat reading all the blogs I think we need to set up an official Young fan Club.
Sue Rob it was great catching up with katie and glan she arrived back safe. These next few weeks will fly bye and the four of you will be all together again.
Town is still bustling and we are all fairly busy enough to go around,
Can you beleive that Georgia was 2 last week and Iain is at kindy tommorrow. YOu children have no idea how much us parents love you lot you know.
Our new house is nearly finished thou the field could do with a few sheep to eat the grass. We have a young goat I do not think I told you that Sara Iain insisited we called he lolly. So she is our latest family member.
Well hope that you all are holding up and hope that the next few days go well.
Love and hugs, god bless you all
Dawn, Samuel & Kids

Hi U4,
A sunny day in Twizel for the swimming sports, I took the boys down as soon as they woke but it was all over before set time, Mark must have had them all super organised. Back to the pool now for the first of Josh's Swim Clubs. Positive thoughts are coming your way. Have a lovely weekend - perhaps a walk on the beach? - Sandy.

kia ora Big little sister (did i get that right???)
well my big sis i'm so glad you are feeling better than when i last seen you!!! Keep eating those iceblocks ay! Hope the radiation isnt knocking you around and you have watched toy story2! I promise it really is a grown ups movie! Hehe!
Well i defiantly haven’t missed much here in Angel Fire since i have been gone! The snow pole has 4 more inches of snow under it,(yeeehee south!)the skiing is pretty icy and we only have one more run open! So that brings our true total of runs open to 7! lol
The altitude hit me pretty hard today and i felt like i had the worse hangover ever, even thou I didn’t have a single drink! Coming from sea level to 10,00ft in a couple of days is not good idea! But I was very excited to be able to self-diagnose myself with AMS (Acute mountain Sickness) symptoms! Hehe!
The Americans are as stupid as ever....well actually that’s unfair to group all Americans in one group…..more specifically Texans are stupid but what can you expect from a state that produced George Bush! Anyways I was riding the lift with a couple from Texas and the gentleman informed me in very sincere and seriously tone “You speak very good English for someone from New Zealand” And he was genuine!! I was totally baffled all I could say was ‘Thank you!’ and giggle!
So Sara I hope you will appreciate how much effort I had to put in to this blog to write it in English considering that this is my ‘second’ language! Hehe! Im not really sure what he thought my native language was thou!!!
Anywho, I start work again on Saturday and im sure it will be amusing as usual and I will have lots of stories to keep you entertained Sezzle! Till then missy ‘Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, Swim, swim, swim! Missing you so much my darling, im hugging Baarsley#2 right now!
Garreth and most of the Angel Fire staff say hello and send hugs Sara (you are celebrity here too Sezzle)
Stay strong my sweetie lots of positive thoughts coming from all of us over here!
Lots of love hugs and kisses, your Little Big Sister! Love you in a circle! xoxoxxoxooxooxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
p.s mum and dad this blog didn’t take me 3 days to write, only a couple of hours which I think is quite impressive considering the language barrier ay?!

Our thoughts are with you and Mum and Dad,hope all goes well.
Keep smiling sunshine
